Overview of Genichesk, Ukraine

Genichesk (from the Turkic word "dzheniche") is a small resort town, the administrative center of the Genichesk region of the Kherson region of Ukraine, located in the steppe zone, right on the shore of one of the warmest and shallow seas in the world, the Sea of Azov.

Climate in Genichesk

Genichesk, located in the arid steppe zone and surrounded by the Azov steppes, the sea and salt lakes, has a temperate continental climate. The air is dry, warm, enriched with iodine and bromine. Because of the steppe terrain, it is often windy. July is the warmest month with a temperature of 23.6 degrees Celsius, January is the coldest. The city is located in the northwestern part of the coast on the Sea of Azov, at the entrance to the Arabat Spit, with which it is connected by a road bridge across the Thin Strait, which in turn connects the Utlyuk estuary with the Sivash. This resort is very popular among families with children, as the Sea of Azov is one of the smallest and warmest seas in the world. Due to the shallow depth, the Sea of Azov warms up quickly and, as a result, by mid-May the water temperature in the sea near the coast is +18 - +19 degrees Celsius, and in the warmest months, the water can warm up to 27 degrees Celsius. The cooking season in Genichesk begins in May and ends with the Velvet season in mid-September. Unlike such resorts in the region as Kirillovka, Arabatskaya Strelka and Zhelezny Port, which do not have industrial production, there is an operating port in Genichesk, which is used for the extraction of sea sand and fodder shells.
